Asylum Seeker Plight Brings Despair

DESPAIR AT THE PLIGHT OF ASYLUM SEEKERS ON BOATS BEING REFUSED ENTRY

GLRAR supporters are very distressed by the media reports on the plight of thousands of asylum seekers on boats in the Andaman Sea. These asylum seekers have been refused entry to Thailand and Malaysia for several weeks. In response to the condemnation of many countries around the world, these countries governments have relented and are now making arrangements for the reception of these very desperate people for up to one year. It is hoped that the Australian Government will review its present policy or refusing entry and offer to assist our Asian neighbours in helping the process and resettle those that are genuine refugees.
